Our Lady of Providence Chapel
St. Vincent Hospital
Liturgical Design, Furnishings, Statues, Art Glass & Lighting
Worcester, MA
The Rohn team developed and executed a comprehensive Catholic liturgical design for Our Lady of Providence Chapel at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA. The project included space formation for the chapel, vestibule, reserved Eucharist, Blessed Mother shrine, confessional, and sacristy, creating a dedicated Catholic worship space within the hospital.
Designed from the altar outward, the chapel provides a sense of peace, hope, and closeness to God while meeting Catholic Church and diocesan guidelines. The layout maximizes the available space and establishes clear sightlines throughout the chapel, allowing patients, families, and staff to participate fully in Mass and prayer.
The sanctuary features a semi-circular marble floor and altar, custom liturgical furnishings, a Polish travertine marble ambo with relief carvings of Saints Peter and Paul, and a custom bronze tabernacle with a matching crucifix. Hand-carved Stations of the Cross follow the curved ceiling and are carefully illuminated through thoughtful church lighting design, while carved glass depicting angels in adoration adds distinctive Catholic sacred art to the chapel. Together, the design creates a welcoming Catholic worship space that offers comfort, hope, and peace during difficult moments.
