Adoration Chapel

The Pittsburgh Oratory & Catholic Newman Center
Liturgical Design, Furnishings & Sacred Art

Pittsburgh, PA

The Rohn team developed a comprehensive liturgical and artistic program for the Adoration Chapel at the Pittsburgh Oratory Catholic Newman Center, creating a cohesive environment for Eucharistic Adoration. Every feature—including liturgical art, custom statuary, furniture, flooring, and appointments—was carefully designed to support worship, prayer, and devotional activities.

The chapel is part of the Newman Center serving students at the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, and Chatham University, created in close collaboration with Oratorian leadership to meet the spiritual and pastoral needs of Catholic students on campus. With its neutral walls, dark wood furnishings, and traditional chapel design, the space provides an atmosphere conducive to prayer, Eucharistic Adoration, and campus ministry. Integrated within the Pittsburgh Oratory, the chapel offers students access to the sacraments and guidance of Oratorian priests and brothers, continuing the centuries-old tradition of Oratories as houses of prayer and community founded by St. Philip Neri.

This project showcases the integration of liturgical design, sacred art, and liturgical furnishings to create a space that meets the spiritual, aesthetic, and practical needs of a vibrant campus ministry. The Adoration Chapel serves as a model for how thoughtful design and artistry can enhance liturgical life while supporting faith formation in a university setting.
