St. Paul's Newman Center Chapel at NDSU
Fargo, ND
Rohn & Associates Design developed and executed a comprehensive sacred art and liturgical design program for the newly constructed St. Paul’s Newman Center chapel, serving the Catholic campus ministry at North Dakota State University. This project includes custom liturgical furniture, vibrant murals, intricate mosaics, and restored sacred art—all designed to create a harmonious worship environment that supports students’ spiritual growth and preparation for vocations.
The centerpiece is a radiant apse mural featuring the Holy Trinity surrounded by angels, with a stunning smalti mosaic below depicting the Twelve Apostles around a glowing Eucharistic chalice under Gothic arches. Crafted by master Italian artisans, the mosaic integrates seamlessly with the church’s architectural elements.
Custom liturgical furnishings such as the altar, ambo, and tabernacle throne were designed to complement the sacred art and enhance the overall worship experience. Additional features include a Byzantine-style Pantocrator, inlaid mosaic flooring symbolizing Christian virtues, scriptural stenciling at the baptismal font, and restored Stations of the Cross.
