St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church
Pittsburgh, PA
Rohn & Associates Design led the interior restoration of St. Paul of the Cross Parish in Pittsburgh, formed by the merger of St. Anne and St. Winifred churches.
The project included cleaning and repainting the walls, restoring bronze communion gates, ambo, columns, Chi Rho capitols, and other decorative metalwork. Our studio artists revitalized existing statuary in realistic tones with gold leaf accents and returned the Blessed Mother to the chapel, now placed on a marble pedestal.
We added marble steps behind the altar and designed a hand-carved, gilded tabernacle, framed by 30 restored mosaic angels. The expansive ceiling—spanning over 250 feet and adorned with Greco-Egyptian motifs—was fully restored, culminating in a dramatic crucifixion carving above the altar.
Upgrades to lighting, sound, and sanctuary candles completed the transformation, creating a unified, reverent space for a growing Catholic community.
