St. John Paul II Catholic Parish
Perth Amboy, NJ
For more than 20 years, Rohn Design has collaborated closely with St. John Paul II Parish in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, guiding an extensive liturgical design and restoration effort that honors the deep faith and legacy of this vibrant Catholic community. The project involved a holistic renewal of the church interior, blending timeless sacred art with refined craftsmanship to support both worship and devotion.
Central to the work were the rebuilt sanctuary and altar, along with liturgical furnishings and statuary that resonate with the parish’s spiritual mission and architectural character. We also carefully relocated the ambo to strengthen the liturgical focus. The sanctuary was enriched with beautifully restored stained glass, showcasing traditional Catholic iconography that illuminates the sacred stories of faith. Underfoot, new marble and granite flooring was installed—stone carefully sourced from Scandinavia and masterfully cut in Italy into intricate designs. The floor features the papal coat of arms of Pope John Paul II and the inscription Totus Tuus (“All for Christ”), reflecting the parish’s dedication to his inspiring legacy.
Every element of this restoration was conceived with a reverence for Catholic tradition and a vision for a welcoming, prayerful environment. This work strengthens the parish’s identity as a sacred place of encounter, prayer, and community, while respecting the dignity of the liturgical rites celebrated within its walls.
