Basilica of Saint Patrick's Old Cathedral
New York, NY
Rohn Design completed a high-definition architectural survey and developed a comprehensive master plan for the renovation of this treasured National Historic Landmark.
Our scope included interior decoration, sacred art, liturgical furniture design, and both new and restored statuary—including a new Our Lady of China statue. Using advanced scanning technology, we assessed structural conditions and created a detailed plan that honors the basilica’s original Neo-Gothic character while addressing the needs of today’s liturgical life.
We designed a new altar and tabernacle throne, restored the carved reredos, Stations of the Cross, and baptismal font, and created a chapel to Our Lady of Altagracia. The sanctuary, sacristy, and gathering space were updated to support reverent worship while preserving architectural integrity. In the catacombs below, we introduced a columbarium, reviving a historic tradition and expanding burial options for the faithful.
