The Rohn team developed the Gothic-inspired Catholic chapel design for the new Saint John’s Hall USCCB Residence Chapel in Washington, DC, creating a dignified setting for Catholic bishops to celebrate the Eucharist and participate in the daily prayer of the Church, including the Liturgy of the Hours.

The chapel features custom marble liturgical furnishings, including a custom altar, tabernacle and tabernacle stand, and ambo, along with custom Catholic statues of saints and a hand-carved crucifix. Behind the ambo, a carved-glass sanctuary wall depicts Christ at the center surrounded by the traditional symbols of the Four Evangelists. Golden accents enhance the artwork, creating a luminous focal point for the proclamation of the Gospel and celebration of the Mass.

The vaulted ceiling and sanctuary flooring complement the marble furnishings and sacred artwork, while carefully planned church lighting design focuses attention on these details and brings warmth to the interior. Together, these elements create an inspiring Catholic environment appropriate for the bishops who gather there.
