Rohn & Associates developed the liturgical design for the new Incarnate Word Chapel at St. Gabriel Catholic School in Austin, TX. Rolf Rohn worked closely with school leadership to develop a chapel master plan, integrating Catholic teachings and imagery through custom liturgical furnishings and sacred art.

The chapel’s 22-by-20-foot jeweled leaded glass windows present the Annunciation around the entrance, while a crucifixion window behind the altar depicts the Four Evangelists through the traditional symbols of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The artwork gives students visual reminders of Scripture, the Incarnation, Christ’s Passion, and the Eucharistic sacrifice as they enter and worship in the chapel.

Saints selected for their relevance to children, families, education, service, and the life of the Church appear throughout the side walls. The collection includes St. Thomas Aquinas, St. John Bosco, St. Dominic Savio, St. Bernadette, St. Kateri Tekakwitha, St. Thérèse of Lisieux, and many others. The Catholic saint drawings provide meaningful examples of Christian discipleship and connect the chapel’s artwork with the Catholic faith and the lives of the saints.

The custom-designed Stations of the Cross use youthful portrayals of Christ and His Blessed Mother, making the Passion more accessible to young people as they learn the Stations and their prayers. Rolf also designed the custom altar, ambo, hand-carved wood tabernacle, tabernacle stand, and four consecration crosses.

The hand-carved Catholic statues of Mary, Undoer of Knots, and St. Joseph with the Child Jesus and Lamb of God are positioned at a height accessible to children. These devotional images give students a tangible connection to Catholic prayer and the traditions of the Church.

Beyond the chapel itself, the project extends Catholic prayer outdoors through a Rosary Walk and Garden, with Carrara marble statues of Our Lady of Fatima, the Annunciation, and the Crucified Christ. Together, the chapel and prayer garden provide dedicated places for Mass, reflection, religious education, and Catholic faith formation at a school serving children and families.
