Church of the Incarnation
Liturgical Furnishings & Custom Catholic Crucifix
Rio Rancho, NM

Rohn Design designed and fabricated the custom marble liturgical furnishings and a hand-carved custom crucifix for Church of the Incarnation in Rio Rancho, NM. Working closely with the pastor, liturgical designer Rolf Rohn designed the Carrara marble altar, ambo, tabernacle throne, and baptismal font, with custom mosaics and Catholic imagery throughout the furnishings.

The custom altar includes a Lamb of God mosaic, symbolizing Christ’s sacrifice and victory over sin and death. The tabernacle stand features a gold Tree of Life mosaic, recalling eternal life in Christ, while the ambo incorporates inlaid mosaic work for the proclamation of Scripture. The baptismal font has a central cross, signifying new life in Christ through Baptism.

The Roman-style crucifix was crafted with a 7-foot-6-inch hand-carved corpus by Italian woodcarvers. Rolf developed the corpus through small-scale study models to refine its proportions before the final carving, while a local artisan crafted the cross.
