Saint Joseph Catholic Church
Restoration, including Liturgical Design, Furnishings, Sacred Art & Lighting
Macon, GA

Rohn & Associates Design developed and executed a complete Catholic church restoration for St. Joseph Catholic Church in Macon, Georgia—one of the most extensive church renovations in the South. This five-year effort included liturgical design, sanctuary renovation, custom liturgical furnishings, church murals, advanced church lighting design, and sound system upgrades to support the liturgy and enhance the liturgical environment.

Highlights of the project include custom Sacred Heart of Jesus and Marian side shrine murals, vaulted ceiling artwork depicting the Four Evangelists, a coordinating Four Evangelists ambo, and the restoration of 64 large German Meyer stained glass windows. Hand-carved white Carrara marble Stations of the Cross, restored gold-leaf architectural detailing, and decorative plaster painting enriched the church’s sacred art and interior decoration.

The sanctuary transformation included a new altar modeled after St. Joseph’s original high altar, crafted with white Carrara and rich purple Rosso Levanto marble, along with a matching ambo featuring the symbols of the Four Evangelists, a new baptismal font, and complementary liturgical furnishings.
