Rohn Design developed and executed the Catholic liturgical design, custom sacred art, and custom liturgical furnishings for the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Houston.

 

This contemporary Romanesque Catholic cathedral spans 37,000 square feet and seats more than 1,800 worshippers. The cathedral features custom crucifixes, carved Stations of the Cross, a custom altar and baptismal font, custom stained glass windows, monumental Carrara marble statues, and marble sanctuary flooring, bringing together contemporary design with traditional Catholic art and craftsmanship. 

 

The interior is crowned by a 100-foot stained glass dome depicting the Twelve Apostles and the Holy Spirit, creating a striking visual focal point above the worship space. At the entrance, a stained glass Resurrection window depicting Christ welcomes visitors to the Co-Cathedral in downtown Houston.

The completed Co-Cathedral provides a dignified sacred environment for Catholic worship, serving as the setting for major liturgical celebrations led by the Cardinal and as a spiritual home for the faithful of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
