Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church
Copiague, NY
Rohn Design developed and executed a comprehensive sacred art program for the newly rebuilt Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Copiague, NY, rising from the devastation of a fire. The project includes richly detailed murals depicting Marian themes such as the Seven Sorrows of Mary, designed to deepen devotion and inspire prayer within the sacred space. Historic statues—among them beautifully restored adoring angels—were meticulously conserved, preserving the parish’s heritage and continuity of faith.

Working closely with the pastor, our team also contributed to the liturgical floor plan, lighting design, custom window framing, and the development of a cohesive interior color scheme to unify the space. The Stations of the Cross were integrated as part of the overall sacred narrative, thoughtfully placed and framed to enhance spiritual engagement. Dropdown project screens were also added to support parish activities without disrupting the visual harmony of the sanctuary.

The sacred art program came to life through multiple stages of black-and-white sketches and color renderings. Each design was then applied to walls and ceilings to complement the church’s architecture and enhance the worship environment.

Currently in progress is a striking stained glass window of Michael the Archangel, designed by Rohn and executed under his direction. This 10' x 5' installation behind the altar symbolizes divine protection and justice, reinforcing the church’s mission to uplift the faithful.
