Saint Benedict Center Chapel
Richmond, New Hampshire
Rohn & Associates Design contributed liturgical art, iconography, and interior formation for the newly constructed chapel at the Saint Benedict Center in Richmond, New Hampshire, home of the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The design program was developed to support traditional Catholic worship while expressing the community’s devotion to Christ through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

At the front of the chapel, a large-scale sanctuary mural depicts Christ crucified, with God the Father above Him, radiating divine light that streams downward through the heavens. Deep blue celestial tones and surrounding clouds frame the scene, emphasizing the mystery of sacrifice, mercy, and divine authority. Statues of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph with the Christ Child are integrated into architectural niches on either side of the sanctuary, anchoring Marian devotion within the sacred space.

The rear of the chapel presents a complementary image of the risen, radiant Christ, attended by adoring angels and set against a brighter, luminous background—offering a visual meditation on resurrection and eternal glory. Overhead, the ceiling is painted as a star-filled night sky, evoking the heavens and reinforcing the chapel’s contemplative atmosphere.

Together, the murals, statuary, and celestial ceiling create a unified theological narrative—from sacrifice to resurrection—within a newly built chapel designed for reverent liturgy, prayer, and Eucharistic devotion. The completed space reflects the mission of the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary while embodying the enduring tradition of Catholic sacred art.
