St. Thomas More Catholic Church
Liturgical Design, Sacred Art & Furnishings
Bethel Park, PA
Rohn & Associates Design led the liturgical design, sacred art, and custom liturgical furnishings for St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The new worship space is bright and open, with natural light and a contemporary Catholic aesthetic shaped around the needs of the liturgy.
Behind the altar, a hand-carved wood relief of the Risen Christ serves as the focal point, expressing the Resurrection and new life in Christ. Along the side of the church, a companion carving of Jesus with the inscription “Come back to me with all of your heart” invites reflection and reconciliation. The black marble baptismal font features an inlaid gold cross, linking Baptism to Christ’s death and Resurrection.
This project was also the first in Pittsburgh where parish members took part in designing their liturgical space—an approach that later inspired three other parishes to do the same. Their involvement fostered a deeper understanding of the liturgy, greater participation, and strong church capital campaign support for the project.
