Statue of Father Demetrius Gallitzin – Catholic Missionary and Servant of God

This impressive statue honors Father Demetrius Gallitzin, a Russian nobleman who renounced wealth and status to serve as a humble Catholic priest and missionary in Pennsylvania. Known as the "Apostle of the Alleghenies," Father Gallitzin spent decades ministering to frontier communities, founding the Catholic town of Loretto, PA, and tirelessly spreading the faith throughout the region.

 

Crafted with remarkable detail and reverence, the sculpture captures his noble bearing and spiritual conviction—making it a powerful addition to Catholic churches, diocesan centers, or devotional spaces dedicated to evangelization, heritage, or priestly ministry. In 2005, Pope Benedict XVI named Gallitzin a Servant of God, the first step on the path to sainthood.
