Saint Louise de Marillac

Pittsburgh, PA

Rohn Design consulted on the complete liturgical renovation of St. Louise de Marillac Catholic Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The project centered on developing a cohesive master plan that honored the church’s unique setting and architectural identity while renewing its sacred function for contemporary Catholic worship.

Our work included sanctuary reconfiguration, space formation, interior decoration, side shrines, and the design of all new liturgical furniture, including a tabernacle, ambry, and Presider’s chair. Custom wood carvings and restored statuary connect Old World Catholic symbolism with modern craftsmanship, reinforcing the altar’s role as the heart of Christ-centered liturgy.

Natural stone, wood, and bronze details throughout the church reflect its earthy surroundings and theological roots. A gold-leafed crucifix, grapevine-patterned furnishings, and hand-restored sacred art—including the Stations of the Cross and statues of Mary and Joseph—imbue the space with dignity and warmth. These elements, along with newly integrated lighting and finishes, help draw the faithful into deeper participation in the sacred mysteries.
